1005. Karen Joy Fowler - The Jane Austen Book Club

I enjoyed this, but not as much as P did.

A group of Californian women (+1 man) set up what the title indicates and discuss a book a month. Their own lives are cleverly interwoven into the narrative.

I don’t know Austen well enough to pick up all the strands (some of which seem pretty opaque), but it is quite a fun book. Ends with a lot of quite negative critical extracts about Austen, which seem out of balance.
